Cyclotec™ 1093 Sample Mill

Applications

The Cyclotec™ 1093 Sample Mill is designed for rapid, uniform grinding of a wide variety of dry samples. The Cyclotec is based on the cyclone principle for universal grinding applications in the laboratory. The grinding is carried out by a high-speed action whereas the sample is rolled against the inner circumference of a durable grinding surface and passed out through a screen. The high grinding capacity reaches 4 g/second and the recovery of the sample is complete.

The Cyclotec 1093 Sample Mill is recommended by the Canadian Grain Commission prior to NIR analysis and approved by the AOAC (983.03) for NIR Reflectance analysis.

Accurate Grinding to count on

The Cyclotec gives you the best possible chance of getting accurate analysis. The finer and more uniform the grist is, the higher precision and reproducibility. This applies especially analytical techniques like NIR, but also to conventional operations like extraction where fineness is important.

A new holder for 500 ml sample bottle is now available. This gives the user the opportunity to grind larger samples at one occasion.

Unique Working Principle

The design of the Cyclotec Mill is unique. The sample is fed on to a turbine wheel that spins at a very high speed, breaking the sample into pieces and hurling them out to the rim where they are abraded to a fine powder. The turbine also acts as a fan, so that particles of the requisite fineness are carried away with the air flow through the screen and separated in the cyclone.

Benefits and Features

  Feature Benefit
Accuracy Adjustable particle size Various fine mesh screens give a uniform particle size distribution and accurate samples for analysis
Thermal degradation A minimisation of the thermal degradation provides more accurate results
Value Rapid and convenient grinding A high grinding speed (4 g/sec.) with complete recovery of the sample means efficiency and accurate preparation for several analytical techniques eg. Kjeldahl, Extraction, etc.
Unique design The mill is made for a variety of dry samples such as feeds/grains whereas the sample is rolled against the inner circumference of a durable grinding surface and passed through a screen. No moisture losses and fine, uniform grist imply reliable and accurate analysis
Self cleaning action A high volume airflow provides a self cleaning action, whereas whole series of samples can be ground without clean out in between which saves time and costs
Low noise and maintenance demand Less maintenance reduces the running costs and contributes to an easy handling; a low noise level gives also a comfort and pleasant grinding
Safety High operator safety The grinding impeller stops working when the grinding chamber is opened, which assures a reliable usage of the mill
